For your organization to grow and prosper, it is critical to have a vision of the future. You need both to envision your future destination and have a strategy to get you there.

Effective strategy brings your core competencies to bear on the realities of the marketplace. Designing strategy is all about a series of questions and executing strategy is about a series of choices. Organizations must have answers to the "critical questions:"

Customer   Product/Service
  • Who is our customer?
  • What do they consider value?
  • Are we delivering that value?
  • How do we know we are delivering that value?
 
  • What is unique about our product/service?
  • How can we further differentiate?
  • What role does branding play in our strategy?
  • What is the state of product development?
  • How can we increase our margins?
Core Competencies   Business Context
  • What is our core competency (ie, what are we best at)?
  • What additional requirements are needed to create/maintain our competitive advantage?
  • What additional core competencies need to be developed?



 

 
  • What is the status of our existing business? What have we learned about how to win? What is missing or unknown?
  • What is the current competitive activity/exposure? From existing players?From new entrants or substitutes?
  • What other important external forces are at work that we need to consider (eg, economic conditions, demographic trends, regulation, etc)
  • What are the emerging forces and trends influencing our business?
